The management of the tour companies said the airline had informed them that the route would be cancelled from its itinerary.Air India said it was working to restore the route.
Tour agency operator S Gandhi said Air India's move to cancel the route was unfair to Malaysian tour agents.
"It is peak season now. Cancelling the route at such short notice is an arbitrary move that will affect us adversely," he added.
Gandhi said passengers who had booked their tickets may now be forced to use budget airline Air India Express, which was still plying the route.He added it was unfair for the passengers to be forced to travel on Air India Express.Another tour agent K P Samy said the airline should have given sufficient notice before cancelling the route."We are committed to giving our customers the service that they demand, and it's difficult for us to tell them what has happened," he was recently quoted by a daily here as saying
