In the first phase, the collaboration would be confined to both regular MBA and online MBA programme of KSOU. <br /><br />Addressing a news conference after signing the MoU, Vice-Chancellor Prof K S Rangappa said the understanding would help the open university to enter into global market, avail the benefits of transfer of technology and ensure robust growth in terms of enrollment. <br /><br />He said the Virginia University would participate in the academic delivery of specialisation like financial management, marketing management and human resources, while KSOU would have control over core papers. <br /><br />“The MBA with specialisation certificate from VCU is optional for the students enrolling for the programme with KSOU,” Rangappa remarked. <br /><br />The VCU would be responsible for marketing the programme not only in Indian cities but also at the global level. The programme is opened for the students from across the globe. <br /><br />Curriculum<br /><br />He said the content of the MBA programme would be developed jointly by KSOU and the VCU and delivered online. It also entails for faculty and student exchange programme. <br /><br />According to him, about 1.5 lakh students enroll for higher education in foreign universities every year. They spend about 10 billion dollars annually for the same. <br /><br />The tie-up between KSOU and VCU brings the quality education from reputed university to their doorstep. <br /><br />The partnership could be extended to other subjects based on the success of the programme. <br /><br />On the occasion, Edward Grier, Dean of VCU said the partnership aims to create next generation global leaders. <br /><br />He said the VCU was one among the strategic universities in US. It is located amidst a group of Fortune 500 companies, which provides its students an exceptional exposure to industry through internship programmes, he said. <br /><br />“The world is watching India as an emerging market.
