<p>On Saturday, a ‘Walk against Corruption’ was organised by a group of 19 civil society organisations. The event was a culmination of a series of programmes starting with a conference against corruption on December 8, followed by ‘Pass the Saaku Baton’ on December 9-10 at ten educational institutions in the City.<br /><br />The one-hour walk was flagged off by Arjuna awardee Ashwini Nachappa at the Kanteerava Stadium. Ramon Magsaysay awardee and RTI expert Arvind Kejriwal and Loksatta’s Jayaprakash Narayan led the walk that ended with the congregation of about 1,000 people at the Shanti Nagar Grounds. Speeches, musicals and stage-plays followed.<br /><br />Mohandas Pai from Infosys, R K Misra and Ashwin Mahesh from ABIDe, Dr A Ravindra, advisor to the chief minister, athletes Ashwini Nachappa and Reeth Abraham were present.<br />A skit by AVAS, detailing the impact of corruption on the lives of the poor, was a big hit. The band, ‘Thermal and a Quarter’, enthralled the audience with a song “Kickbackistan.”</p>
