<p>Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the last day of the Fourth World Ayurveda Congress here on Monday, Ramdas said six departments will come together to frame a policy for Ayurveda shortly. <br /><br />"Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary Sciences, Rural Development and Environment and Forests will coordinate and frame an Ayurveda policy for the State. Suggestions and inputs given from this Ayurveda Congress will also be considered," he said. <br /><br />The State government has also recommended to the Centre to declare December 28 as the 'World Ayurveda Day', he added.<br /><br />He said centres of excellence in clinical medicine with emphasis on malaria, hepatitis, psoriasis, diabetes and hypertensive heart diseases will be established. <br /><br />Attempts will also be made to identify traditional healers in rural areas and document their practices and therapies, he added. <br /><br />The minister said a progress report will be given to the media on the action taken by the government in implementing various projects in the field of Ayush. The department will also organise Ayurvedic Congress once a year in the State.<br /><br />Overwhelming response<br /><br />The Ayurveda Congress which concluded on Monday registered a turnover of about Rs three crore. Nearly three lakh people visited the Arogya Expo at the Palace Grounds, organised to mark the occasion.<br /><br />The organisers termed the event a huge success in terms of the visits and collaborations between Indian and international pharma companies. There were 39 foreign firms which turned buyers from 150 Indian companies. <br /><br />A total of 257 technical papers were presented by experts which gave an insight into Ayurveda procedures. <br /><br />More than 400 stalls displaying various Ayush - Ayurveda, Unani, Sidda and Homoeopathy health products were set up at the Arogya Expo.<br /><br />"The expo gave a huge opportunity for us to learn different forms of medicines. In fact we have not been able to have a thorough look at all the stalls due to the crowd and the number of stalls," said Dr Kavya, a student from Mysore Ayurveda College. <br /><br />Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat gave a flying visit to the Expo.</p>
