<p>The BBMP plan includes tracking the activities of garbage transporters. Even the Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had raised the matter soon after assuming charge. The garbage transporters, instead of disposing of the garbage at the dumping yard, let it accumulate in residential areas and other public places and claimed payment from the BBMP.<br /><br />Sources said, two CCTV cameras will be installed at Mavallipura, four at Mandur and one each at Kimmasandra, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Doddabidrekal and Nayappanahalli dumping yards. <br /><br />These cameras will be connected to a control room at the BBMP’s head office at Hudson Circle. The entire system will be installed with the help of Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KEONICS) with an estimated cost of around Rs 10 lakh. The CCTVs will be linked to the internet to provide the video footages, which will monitor the vehicular movement, and also help in checking encroachment of dumping yards.<br /><br />The decision was taken last week at a meeting of BBMP Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena, additional and joint commissioners. In this regard Meena spoke to the KEONICS officials to check the viability.<br /><br />There were frequent complaints that the contractors showed on records that garbage was dumped at the yards, even when they had never picked it from the locality. As a result garbage was piling up in the residential areas, while, the BBMP was losing crores of rupees in the form of payment to the transporters.<br /></p>
