It was during a dance performance by a youngster  to thehit number, at the State-level ‘Yuva Nruthyotsava-2011’ organised by the Town Brothers Dance Class and Moonwalk Dance Creators at Jaganmohan Palace here on Sunday.

Organisor John said, dance competitions are being held for juniors and seniors in solo, group and couple categories. He said that more than 50have registered for the juniors category, while entries were still pouring in for the seniors category.

Even though contestants danced for the new songs, Dr Rajkumar’s hits were still popular among many youngsters. A junior participant reminded of the actor dancing for ‘Huttidare Kannada naadalli hutta beku...’  from Aakasmika, capturing the rapt attention of the crowd.

Another trend that had come to the fore were remixes of Kannada, Hindi and English songs.

A young couple of the Swing and Dance Club stole the show with their performance on roller skates. Another participant, Spandana was a showstopper with her performance to a remix of yesteryear’s songs from the movie ‘Anjada Gandu’. ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ was a hit here too, as participants continue to dance to its tunes.

The competitions will continue on Monday, before the prize distribution ceremony scheduled at 4.30 pm.
