"While certain political leaders make the youth pick up stones, my government is placing job orders in their hands and providing them with avenues for better career and bright future," he said, addressing a gathering in south Kashmir's Anantnag district yesterday.
"Jobs for the youth is my earnest mission," Omar said.

The chief minister said the employment scheme of his government was successful in addressing the unemployment crisis in the state.

"Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) is an effective medium to address unemployment crisis meaningfully and appropriately," he said.
Earlier, the chief minister laid the foundation of two bridges at Amard Ashmuqam and Seer Nambal in the Anantnag district, which will be constructed at a cumulative cost of Rs 11 crore.

The bridge at Ashmuqam will be of 184 meter span connecting Ashmuqam and Saller villages. It is likely to be completed in two years at a cost of Rs 6.72 crore.

The Seer Nambal bridge will be of 72 meters span and is likely to cost about Rs 4.12 crore. It will connect Nambal Seer and Langbal villages with Khannabal-Pahalgam road and provide an alternate route for tourists to visit the picturesque Pahalgam.

Meanwhile, Omar made a surprise visit to two main hospitals of the Valley yesterday to get a "first hand appraisal" of functioning of these health care institutions.

Omar visited SMHS hospital and GB Panth Children's hospital in Srinagar last night, an official spokesman said.

The chief minister said he would convene a high-level meeting with the minister of Health and concerned administrative and departmental heads to review functioning of the hospitals and availability of health care facilities for patients when he reaches Jammu.

"The chief minister inspected various wards and interacted with patients. He enquired about the availability of medicines and other medical material," the spokesman said.
Omar also enquired about the standard of the treatment and response of doctors and para-medical staff to the needs of the patients, he said.
