He was asked to pay a bribe of Rs 20,000 to become a lecturer in a government college. JD(S) M C Nanaiah, who was a minister in the Devraj Urs’ <br />cabinet came down heavily on Gowda and said Urs was a champion of backward classes.<br />Chief Minister Yeddyurappa intervened to say that he had respect for Devraj Urs. Because of Urs people of backward classes got due representation in different fields.</p>
