<p>The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has taken steps to instal CCTV cameras in the temple premises to ensure safety of thousands of people who throng the temple daily. <br /><br />The works are yet to be completed, but it is limited only to the temple and there are several other priceless idols worth crores of rupees at the museum and other places. <br /><br />But there is security for them as the temple walls are in a dilapidated state and it has collapsed at some places.<br /><br />The construction of a compound wall was begun near Dwarasamudra lake and it was yet to be completed.<br /><br />Though the wall has collapsed at several places, ironically, the practice of locking the gate everyday has not been stopped, bringing smile on the lips of the people there, thinking the apathy of the administration.<br /><br />The police department has been trying to install a metal detector at the entrance of the temple earlier and had also requested the ASI to safeguard the temple.<br /><br />Kedareshwara temple and the Rani Shanthale Jain Basadi at Hulikere too lack protection. <br /><br />There are no local officials to monitor the important heritage structures and monuments, and the officials working at Srirangapatna temple have entrusted with the extra responsibility of these temples too, say sources.</p>
