BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters here that the "democratically elected Yeddyurappa has every right to continue in the post".

Rudy said: "The rights of the people of Karnataka and their aspirations cannot be usurped by an agent of the centre".

He alleged that Bhardwaj was sent by the central government on a "political agenda to destabilise the BJP government in Karnataka and install a Congress government in that place".

Rudy recalled that Bhardwaj as union law minister earlier had "agreed to defreeze the accounts of the controversial Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi".

Rudy alleged that Bhardwaj had given permission for the prosecution of Yeddyurappa as "a tactics to divert attention from the corruption scandals engulfing the central government".
Bhardwaj Friday night granted permission for the prosecution of Yeddyurappa in the cases of corruption in allotment of land to his kin.
