The only fault of the victim, a resident of Bilhaur in Kanpur Dehat district about 150 km from here, was that she had spoken to her beloved on the Valentine’s Day.Enraged after hearing the girl talking to her lover, the alleged culprit, who is the grandfather of the girl, hit her several times with an axe killing her on the spot, according to police sources here on Tuesday.
A case has been registered in this regard, the police said adding the culprit fled after perpetrating the crime. Elsewhere also “family honour” prevailed over Valentine in the state and the lovers had to pay the penalty for falling in love.
A girl was shot dead by her own brothers in UP’s Kaushambi district for eloping with her lover.Meena Devi was sprayed with bullets when she returned home after spending a few days with her lover in the nearby Allahabad town.
