Raising the issue in the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, D V Sadananda Gowda, Ananth Kumar Hegde, Gaddigowdar, G M Siddesh and others urged the Centre to come to the rescue of farmers suffering due to the price crash triggered by the ban imposed on plastic gutka sachets.
The parliamentarians also urged the government to allow gutka manufacturers to use plastic sachets at least for another three months to enable them to find an alternative packaging systems following the ban imposed by the Supreme Court.
Ananth Kumar Hegde told Deccan Herald that a delegation led by Parliamentarians Forum for Areca nut Growing States would meet the prime minister on Thursday here to seek relief to farmers.
