Surprise visit reveals irregularities in hostel

After inspecting the hostel, Manjula told the reporters that the hostel, run by the Social Welfare Department for the students of the scheduled communities and backward classes, was maintained badly.

The young girls were served badly cooked, low quality food and polluted water.
The president herself noticed a dead lizard and worms in the food containers in the kitchen storeroom.

She took to task the warden and contractor who supplied the foodgrains. She also noticed irregularities and the hostel superintendent had not even kept record and bills for the foodgrains and other purchases.

She also chided taluk social welfare officer Venkatesh and asked him to address the problems immediately. Taluk Panchayat President R Anand, Vice-President Parvathamma, Town Municipality President Gulab Jan, Taluk Panchayat members S V Lokesh, Puttaswamy, Gopal Gowda and BJP taluk unit president Narayanagowda, CDPO Rajanna, ZP president’s personal assistant Shivaraj, Town Municipality Ashraya Committee Chairman M B Nanjunadappa, leaders M G Madhusoodhan and Venkatesh Gowda were present on the occasion.
