According to Singh's wife Surinder Kaur and other family members, they received his phone call on February 27 and he intimated that he would return soon after arranging a return ticket.

The family on March 1 received another phone call and Singh informed that he would return in the next ten days as a large number of Indians were returning. During conversation with family, Singh told them that he was hungry from some days and the company in which he was working had not paid him salary.

They said it is not easy for him to arrange money for his return ticket and the family is also not in a position to send money for the same. The family asked the Union government to help Singh and other fellow villagers. Meanwhile, Singh's father Ajaib Singh, mother Pritam Kaur and wife Surinder Kaur is hoping for his safe return.
