The case relates to an RTI application filed by Ghanshyam Prasad of Bihar’s Supaul district who sought to know the details about a police inquiry into a matter involving a cashier of the bank.

The public information officer said no such records were available with him.
When the matter came before Chief Information Commissioner Satyananda Mishra for hearing through video conferencing, two advocates Rajkumar Chauhan and Murari Kumar Singh appeared along with the bank’s Simroha branch manager Naresh Poddar.
To the astonishment of Mishra, neither the lawyers had any knowledge about the case nor were they of any assistance to the commission.

Mishra pointed out: “Most unfortunately, the officer of the bank and two advocates appearing on behalf of the bank had no idea or knowledge about this case and could contribute nothing by the way of assistance to the commission.

“We would like the management of the bank to find out why such people represent the bank when they have no knowledge about the case. In fact, all expenses incurred by the bank in connection with the hearing should recovered from the people representing the bank,” he ordered directing that copy of the order should be sent to the chairman-cum-managing director of the bank.
