Addressing a press conference, she said that the number of police atrocities is increasing considerably, but the Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar is not responding to the complaints properly. “Police officers are involved in torturing innocent girls. Meanwhile, the fear of infamy force girls to take the extreme step of committing suicide,” she charged adding that the SP did not respond even after the issue was discussed with him.

“The SP should suspend immediately the woman sub inspector and constable of the town police station, who insulted Eeramma of Kalidasanagara publicly. A state-wide agitation will be launched if action was not taken against them,” she warned.

Eeramma’s husband Mallesh had abandoned her and following this she had filed a petition at the Principal JMFC seeking alimony. The court after hearing the case had asked Mallesh to pay alimony to her, she said.

However, Mallesh did not pay Eeramma the alimony as directed by the court. Following this, Eeramma filed a complaint at the town police station seeking protection and for alimony from her husband, Mohini explained.

“The police instead of ensuring justice, assaulted Eeramma and used abusive language against her. Moreover, police also have registered a case of attempt top murder against Eeramma. Later, she was produced before the court even without informing her relatives,” Mohini said and demanded that the officials, who violated the Supreme Court directives by not informing relatives after Eeramma’s arrest, should be punished.
