In the last October, the roof was collapsed just few minutes before the students entry into the classroom.

With this, out of 18 rooms of the school and college which are in a dilapidated condition, roofs of two rooms have been collapsed and the rest of the rooms may collapse at any time! The 100 years old building which is badly in need of repair has been completely locked now, with the fear that the school may collapse at any time. This is the only school and the college in the town where the poor students had an opportunity to study without spending fee.

The institution which has been imparting education to thousands of students lacks all the basic facilities. Though newly constructed classes are utilised to engage classes for few students, the teachers worry on how to conduct the examination.

Proposal of Rs 1 crore

Responding to the plight of the institution, Public Instruction Department Deputy Director N A Ramaswami said, a proposal has been submitted to the government to renovate the building with Rs 1 crore. The government has announced the amount in the recent budget and so can expect the money to be released shortly.

In addition to it, the Zilla Panchayat too has already released Rs 5 lakh for the renovation purpose. Ramaswami said, if the government does not release the amount this year, then the walls of the building will be retained for another one year and only the roofs will be constructed.

Even if the amount is sanctioned by the government, there are hardly any chances of the building construction as the rainy season would commence in June which would not allow for the smooth functioning of the work.
