Two-day international women's meet from today

Speaking at a press meet here on Thursday, General secretary of the reception Committee, Divya said there would be discussions on various problems faced by the women in social, educational and other fields. Despite gender equality is talked about still the male dominance continued. Women were subjected to sexual harassment almost daily.

Foetal deaths, dowry harassment, assault and superstitions still existing in the society. The convention’s objective was to create awareness on these among the people, she said.

The programme will be held at Kannada Sahitya Parishat Bhavan and former minister and litterateur B T Lalitha Naik will inaugurate the programme. Litterateur Bhanu Mushtaq, Gynaecologist Dr R N Rangalakshmi, former MLA G V Srirama Reddy and N Ananth Nayak will be the chief guests.

Students who are participating in the convention will be taking out a protest rally.  Experts from across the state would participate in various group discussions. Debate would be held on both the days.
