The incident took place yesterday night when residents of Shitlaka purwa and Kadampur villages clashed over a trivial issue leading to arsoning of 15 houses in Kadampur village, Circle Officer B S Rana said.
After setting afire the houses, the rival group also beat the villagers, all dalits. Thirteen persons, including four women, were injured in the incident, officials said. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where the condition of two women was stated to be serious, they said.
A large number of policemen have been deployed in the village to avoid further untoward incident. Some persons have been detained in connection with the clash.
