Have requested Sreeramulu not to take hasty decision: Shettar

"I spoke to him and requested him not take a hasty decision. I have however conveyed his feelings to the party's central leadership", Shettar told reporters here. Sriramulu, who resigned today, is a close aide of the mining magnates the Reddy brothers -- G Karunakara Reddy and G Janardhana Reddy.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said he was trying his level best to contact Sriramulu and try to speak to him before this evening on the issue.

"I have 100 per cent confidence he is not going to resign from his (assembly) membership... will try to convice him. We are not ready to lose him", he said.

Asked whether Sriramulu was treated "badly" by the BJP, he said "no, no, he must have been hurt". On whether he had spoken to BJP national president Nitin Gadkari about it, he said  "Gadkari is in touch with me every minute".

State BJP President K S Eshwarappa who is in Shimoga however declined to comment on Sriramulu's resignation.
