Infy opens development centre in Singapore

The Singapore development centre would play a strategic role in the company's operations, allowing it to drive business opportunities in the region, the Bangalore-based and NASDAQ-listed firm said in a statement.

The new centre is spread over 25,000 sq ft and can seat up to 450 people. Infosys plans to expand this facility to seat 1,000 people by the end of 2012. The company is also strengthening its employee base in Singapore and has hired 34 graduates from the top Singaporean Universities. Over the next 6-9 months, Infosys plans to hire over 600 fresh engineers and experienced professionals at the centre.

Ashok Vemuri, Member of the Board, Infosys Ltd along with Gerald Chan, CEO and Country Head UBS Singapore, jointly inaugurated the centre at the Changi Business Park Crescent.

Vemuri said, "Infosys has been present in Singapore for the past seven years and the country serves as our regional hub allowing us to address business demands in the South-east Asian market. We now plan to make Singapore our innovation hub and deliver high-quality service capabilities to clients across verticals."

Feroz Syed, Delivery Manager, Infosys Ltd, has been appointed as the head of the centre. * * * * * Milagrow launches tablets based on Android system *    Milagrow Business and Knowledge Solutions (MBKS) has launched 8-inch tablet based on Android operated system, TabTop PC, that will compete with such products in the premium category.

"Extensive research for more than 18 months went into making this tablet far superior to even the more premium priced tablet players. The TabTops is a perfect alternative to a desktop, laptop or other tablets for all your computing, information, networking and entertainment needs," MBKS Founder and CEO Rajeev Karwal said in a statement.

While the 16 GB version will cost Rs 24,990, people will have to pay Rs 29,990 for the 32 GB version. The tablet is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor and 1 GB RAM, and comes with 3G and WiFi capabilities.

TabTop also supports HDMI viewing of videos and movies on larger HD screens. It provides 10 hours of video playback and has dual cameras and live TV capability. It has LAN facility as well to connect with eight systems.
