<p>A total of 141 PPP projects worth Rs 80,544 crore were being implemented in the northern region as of June, 2011. Punjab accounted for 34 of these projects, translating into almost 23 per cent of the total PPP projects in the North, according to a CII report on ‘Public-Private Partnerships in the Northern Region’. <br /><br />Rajasthan led other states in terms of PPP projects, accounting for 41 per cent of the total projects under implementation, while 14 PPP projects were coming up in Haryana.<br />Punjab ranks second in the northern region in terms of the number of PPP projects, its per capita investment of Rs 783 on PPP project was lower than even Haryana, where the per capita investment amounted to Rs 3,490, the report said.<br /><br />Most of the PPP projects awarded in Punjab were for road development, followed by urban development, tourism and healthcare, with a total value of Rs 2,170 crore. <br /><br />The Punjab Infrastructure Development Board acts as the apex body responsible for overall planning of the infrastructure sector in the state.</p>
