<p>The BWSSB is all set to disconnect water supply to houses, whose owners have failed to install rainwater harvesting (RWH) structures.<br /><br /></p>.<p>T Venkataraju, engineer-in-chief, BWSSB, said he has already instructed his executive engineers in various divisions to carry out inspections. “I have asked the engineers to visit the houses that come under the category of compulsory rule of RWH and inspect the structures. If RWH structure has not been installed, a reason will be sought. If the owners give a commitment letter giving a valid reason for the delay in installing the structure, an extension will be given depending on the reason,” he said.<br /><br />The last date for installing RWH structure was set for March 31, after corporators sought for an extension from the previous deadline of December 31, 2011.<br /><br />According to BWSSB records, of the 50,000 houses identified (old and new houses built on the area 60X40 sqft site and above, and new houses to be constructed on 30X40 site area), 37,200 houses have installed the RWH structures.<br /><br />If the engineers find that the reasons given by the house owners for not installing RWH are invalid, then water supply will be disconnected till the structures are put in place.</p>
