A month’s training is being given to the students to prepare them for interviews with the companies, which will soon commence. </p>.<p>Metrolife talks to students to understand whether placement training sessions help during the real interviews. <br /><br />Students are often trained with mock interviews and a lot of other activities, so as to help them during the real interview. Srikant, a student of RV Institute of Management, says that these training programs help a lot as they are taught the basics of an interview. “We are trained for about 14 to 15 weeks and it is compulsory for all students to attend the placement training. Some of the senior speakers are called from the industry and they not only lecture us about the finer aspects of an interview, but also share their success mantra. Managers from various companies are called and they gave us practical insight into placements,” he adds.<br /><br />Students suggest that mock interviews are extremely helpful as they give them the feeling of a real interview session. “Many CEOs from various institutions are called especially for the mock interview sessions,” informs Srikant.<br /><br />While some say that the training sessions are beneficial, others inform that the success of these sessions depends on the trainers. “If the trainers are not good, the sessions are useless. The trainers need to give the real feel of an interview. Delivering a lecture on placement does not help us at all. Since we have little knowledge about an interview, we need the trainers to help us with basics like how to dress and how to respond to questions,” says Ragini, another management student.<br /><br />Noel, a final-year management student, notes that placement training has played an important role in his campus placement. “We were given individual sessions on various topics related to the interview, like a grooming session, a session on solving aptitude tests in the shortest time. how to make a CV and how to answer questions related to the CV. Even details like the way we open the door, greet, talk, and the correct attitude that we should have during the interview were taught to us. All this really helped me during my campus placement,” sums up Noel.</p>
