<p>Communist Party of India (Marxist) will picket Udupi Sri Krishna temple to protest against the ‘Made Snana’ and ‘Pankthi Bedha’ here on December 27.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Speaking to media persons, Udupi District CPI(M) Secretary K Shankar said that the CPI(M) has organised a jatha from Byndoor to Udupi on December 24, to condemn the rituals of ‘Made Snana’ and ‘Pankthi Bedha’. <br /><br />Senior leaders of the party, progressive thinkers and leaders from various organisations will take part in the protest. CPI (M) Central Committee Member Srinivas Rao will inaugurate the jatha from Mangalore Deputy Commissioner’s Office on December 24 that will reach Udupi on December 27, he added.<br /><br />He accused that both ‘Made Snana’ and ‘Pankthi Bedha’ are inhuman rituals. The party strongly condemns any modifications in ‘Made Snana’ to ‘Ede Snana’ as proposed by the State government. Both are similar rituals and hardly make any difference. <br /><br />The State government should properly describe the inhumanity hidden behind the practice of the ritual to Supreme Court and stress for the need to ban the ritual, he added.<br /><br />He said that the Supreme Court had only stayed the High Court order and it is not the final verdict. It is not the victory of ‘Made Snana’. The State-level campaign against the evil practices intends to create awareness among mass over the superstitions and false notion hidden in the practice, he said.<br /><br /></p>
