<p>The Committee memebrs are demanding inquiry into irregularities in implementing the scheme in Urigili Gram Panchayat. <br /><br />A memorandum was submitted to Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer G V Rangarao on Oct 12 demanding an inquiry into large-scale irregularities in implementation of NREGS in Urigili Gram Panchayat limits, in addition to other demands. <br /><br />It was also stated that a dharna will be held in case the demands are not met. Since no steps have been taken till day, we are commencing the dhara, the members have said in a press release.<br /><br />The Committee has also demanded that the officers should pay surprise visits to places where the works are being carried out under NREGS and check the attendance, job cards of the labourers. Action should be initiated against officers who have not ensured payment of wages in Urigili, Totli, Toredevandahalli, Sugatur and Vadagur panchayat limits.<br /><br />Hike in wages<br /><br />Steps should be taken to clear encroachment of tanks and burial grounds and planting of saplings should be permitted under the Scheme. The encroachment of the road linking Hollamballi with Hosur road should be cleared. <br /><br />The Union government has increased the wages under NREGS to Rs 100 and the state government should immediately give effect to the increased wages. <br /><br />The members of the Committee, T M Venkatesh, V Geetha, Honnenahalli Yallappa, T Krishnegowda and Gangamma have demanded that the wages should be paid every week regularly and employment of 200 days per year should be guaranteed for every eligible family. In accordance with the government orders, higher wage of Rs 125 should be paid for extra work and Rs 140 per cubic meter for work on rough surface, according to a release.</p>
