<p>Forest Minister Ramanath Rai said on Wednesday that the State government would appoint an expert committee to find out reasons for the increased appearances of elephants on the outskirts of Bangalore.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Rai told reporters that the committee would assess whether any infringement of the elephant corridor was resulting in the increased appearances of pachyderms. There was a possibility that large number residential layouts coming up on the outskirts of Bangalore transgressing the elephant corridor. Remedial measures would be taken based on the recommendations of the committee, he said.<br /><br />He said the government was committed to implement the recommendations of the Karnataka Elephant Task Force. The government will also take steps to curb the increasing man-elephant conflicts Chamarajnagar, Hassan and Sakleshpur taluks. The government will go in for digging elephant-proof trenches and erecting solar-powered fences, he added.<br /></p>
