<p>The issue of disputed Cauvery waters today led to a war of words between members from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in the Lok Sabha.<br /><br /></p>.<p>M Thambidurai (AIADMK) raised the issue of reported construction of projects on Cauvery river by Karnataka.<br /><br />He said since there was dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka on the issue, there should be no fresh project without consulting the lower riparian state.<br />Terming the reported construction as a violation of the federal structure, he demanded an immediate intervention by the Centre.<br /><br />T R Baalu (DMK) also wanted to raise the issue, but Speaker Meira Kumar reminded him that he had given notice on Katchatheevu.<br /><br />Raising the Cauvery issue, members from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu rushed to the Well raising slogans against each other.<br /><br />They withdrew for a while, but returned raising slogans. Mulayam Singh Yadav (SP) raised the issue of 17 backward communities which were included in the list of Scheduled Castes in UP.<br /><br />He said the previous SP government had added them in the SC list but the move was revoked by "the other government". He was apparently referring to the BSP. He said the Akhilesh Yadav government has once again included them in the SC list and the resolution has been sent to the Prime Minister.<br /><br />Yadav requested the Centre to take an early decision on the issue. S K Bwiswmuthiary (Bodoland Peoples Front) demanded creation of separate Bodoland state. Several members from Bihar and Madhya Pradesh raised the issue of floods in their regions.</p>
