The Malleswaram police have booked a City-based fashion designer and his five friends on the charge of creating nuisance in public place, under the influence of alcohol.

According to police, Ramesh Dembla, a fashion designer and his five friends, all inebriated, were consuming liquor on Margosa Road in Malleswaram at around 8.30 on Thursday morning. The group entered into an argument with local residents who objected to their conduct and allegedly attempted to attack a few with beer bottles.

Dembla and his five friends - Madhuri, Partho, Rajveer, Param and Subeel - all models, have been booked for wilful and indecent expose, language and behaviour in a public place and other offences, according to Sandeep Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North).

They allegedly passed lewd comments on the public and were found misbehaving. Local residents informed the control room from where Malleswaram police were alerted. Police personnel including a woman sub-inspector rushed to the spot and prevented public from assaulting Ramesh and his friends, police said.

Chandru, a passerby said Dembla had stripped his trousers and the group was making obscene gestures at anyone who questioned them.

The police took up suo motu notice of the incident and booked Ramesh Dembla and his friends, Patil added. The incident did not draw attention as no one lodged a complaint. All the six were taken to KC General Hospital for a medical examination.

Madhuri is a model and has acted in the Kannada movie ‘Rambo,’ against Sharan as the hero, which was a hit.

When contacted, Dembla denied the allegations and gave a different version of the incident. He said he and his friends were having breakfast near Veena Stores on Margosa Road, and a couple of people started clicking pictures of the girls who were with them.

“ We asked the girls to get inside the car. But, they also came near the vehicle and attempted and tried to touch them. We stopped them, but the public mistook and started abusing us,” he said.
