<p>India's Sumit Malik, who won the 400 metres gold in the men's 400m race has been stripped off his medal for violating anti-doping rules and illegally participating in Lusofonia Games in lieu of a provisional suspension imposed by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).<br /><br /></p>.<p>Malik was provisionally suspended with effect from January 7, debarring him from participating in any global or national event.<br /><br />As per anti-doping rules, the athlete should have refrained from taking part in Lusofonia Games.<br /><br />However, since he took part in the Lusofonia Games 2014 by keeping the organising committee in the dark, the Committee has decided to strip him off his medal.<br /><br />The organising committee received the information from the NADA on January 27, that Sumit Malik, gold medallist of Lusofonia Games' 400-metre event was served a notice for anti-doping rules violation under NADA's Anti Doping Rules, 2010.<br /><br />NADA informed that the copy of the notice was also sent to the Athletics Federation of India.<br /><br />Results of the 400-metres men's final and the overall medal tally will be ratified accordingly.</p>
