<p>At 114 feet (34.76 metres), Guinness World Records has officially confirmed that the tallest tower ever made of interlocking LEGO plastic bricks was recently constructed in Hungary’s capital, Budapest.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The tower, located in front of St. Stephen’s Basilica, was built with the help of official Danish constructors, schoolchildren and the Mayor of Budapest, Antal Rogan. It is topped with an oversized Hungarian-built Rubik’s cube and was built using more than 4,50,000 colourful LEGO plastic bricks.<br /><br />“This is a modern obelisk behind us and it shows that with lots of minute engineering knowledge and diligence we can call attention to the fact that this is one of the most beautiful squares in Budapest,” said Mayor Rogan, who then placed the last LEGO piece on the tower. <br /><br />The previous holder of the Guinness record in this category was a group of students in Delaware, USA, who built a tower standing almost 113 feet (34.43 metres) tall in August last year. The tower was made up of some 5,00,000 LEGO bricks.<br /></p>
