<p>Ripe Arabica coffee yield in the plantations of Bairapur, Satthiganahalli, Gowdahalli, Devavrunda, Banakal, Javali, Niduvale, Gabbal, Kundoor, Hanthur, Kanachur, Uduse and Gonibeedu are getting decayed due to the untimely rains.<br /><br />Growers are worried after pepper yields started decaying in their plantations in huge quantities before the harvest. They cannot even collect the yield falling on the ground. <br />The scenes are common where the farmers request the media persons, who visit their place, to write about their actual miseries so that the government comes to know about their wretched condition.<br /><br />“Coffee crop has almost got spoiled in the taluk. Paddy has already begun sprouting on the field itself. However, the elected representatives are busy in giving press statements regarding special packages thus putting the farmers in total confusion,” said Kundoor GP President Sundaresh. About 30 per cent of coffee yield had been decayed due to the heavy downpour in early June. The growers lost another 30 pc of the yield later. The present untimely rains may not allow the growers to get at least 10 pc of their yield, he said.</p>
