Give support price to mango growers during price crash,demands MLC Narayanaswamy

He was speaking after inaugurating Technical Training Camp for mango growers at Lakshmivenkateshwara Kalyana Mantap in Srinivaspur on Sunday. The Camp was jointly organised by District Mango Growers Association and Syngenta India Private Limited.

The Horticulture Department is not giving proper guidance to mango growers, expressed Narayanaswamy who suggested the Department to depute more personnel during mango season to spread awareness about the ways of protecting mango crops.

Research Centre

“The government is holding talks to establish a Horticulture College and Research Centre at horticulture farm in Hogalagere in the taluk,” briefed Narayanaswamy who said that government had promised to establish three mango processing units in the taluk.

He urged the farming community to make a consolidated effort in this regard for the materialisation of the government promise.

“Arrangements should be made by the government to export the high quality mango grown in the region,” expressed Narayanaswamy who urged the authorities to organise proper marketing facilities. In the absence of these facilities mango growers are at the brink of loss and destitution.

Mango Expert from Chittor in Andhra Pradesh Subba Reddy who spoke on the occasion said that Mango growers should take to scientific methods to get higher yields.

Pesticides

 “The farmers should spray a variety of pesticides right from flowering season to get higher yields. The trees should be watered regularly and manured to get higher yield, he added.

District Mango Growers Association President Bandapalli Chandra Reddy, Syngenta India Private Limited official Kamal Kandan, progressive farmer Venkatarayappa, G N Prakash, Srinath Jadav and others were present on the occasion.
