According to the Meteorological Department (Met), the City received 25 mm of rainfall.<br /><br />Met Director S M Maitri said that the showers were expected four days ago. He said an upper air cyclonic circulation along the Arabian Sea from Gujarat to Lakshadweep is causing rain in south-interior Karnataka.<br /><br />More rains are expected in the coming days with partly cloudy skies and rain or thundershowers in certain parts of the City, Maitri added.<br /><br />According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), J P Nagar received the highest rainfall of 58.5 mm, followed by Maruthi Mandira in Vijayanagar of 48 mm. <br /><br />A KSNDMC official said that the City received scattered rainfall with many areas not recording any. <br /><br />Aditi Soni, an IT professional, said though her weekend plans were ruined, she was more than happy to enjoy the much needed relief from heat. <br /><br />On the flip side, commuters had a harrowing time in reaching their destinations due to traffic jams. Saroja, a resident of Hennur, said she waited for more than half an hour just to board a bus at Shivajinagar terminus. “All the terminals were jam-packed,” she said.<br /><br />Complaints of waterlogging were received from certain parts of the City and the BBMP also received complaints of uprooting of trees at Jayanagar V Block, Dinnur Road in R T Nagar and near Abhinaya Theatre on B V K Iyengar Road.<br /><br />Traffic jams were also reported on M G Road near Trinity Circle, Majestic, Hebbal flyover and Bannerghatta Road.</p>
