<p>The State government has announced the winners of Santha Shishunala Sharief and Varnashilpi Venkatappa awards for the year 2014. <br /><br /></p>.<p>In a press statement here, the government said Rajguru Guruswamy Kalikeri has been selected for the Shishunal Sharief award in recognition of his contributions to the field of light music. He hails from Gadag. <br /><br />For the Venkatappa award, V T Kale of Ballari has been selected. Both the awards carry a cash prize of Rs three lakh each. <br /><br />The government has decided to name the new award which it has instituted to recognise talented amateur theatre personalities as B V Karanth award. The award carries a purse of Rs three lakh. </p>
