<p>Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said State government had released Rs 2.5 crore to tackle monsoon-related menace.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Briefing reporters, after chairing KDP meet here on Monday, he said a proposal for Rs 4 crore was sent to government, however, in response, the government had released Rs 2.5 crore. <br /><br />A taskforce set up to look into the monsoon-related problems, is working in the direction under guidance of Assistant Commissioner. It is a collaborative work involving multi-departments. The life and property loss and agriculture damage are compensated on priority.<br /><br />He said measures have been taken to build temporary sea walls in the areas that are affected by sea erosion. He said that sea erosion was prevalent in places like Maravanthe, Kodibengre, Mulur in Thottam and Kaup.<br /><br />Asserting that the government would take up second phase work at Varahi irrigation project on preference, he said the work would be completed at the earliest.<br /><br />Nearly 1.65 lakh hectares of deemed forest is being identified for relaxation in the district. Of which 75,000 hectare of land is already exempted against confines of deemed forest category. <br /><br />Sand mining<br /><br />He said the problem of sand mining is at task, as there are two clauses to be tackled concerning environment. A report explaining the environment conditions in these area in connection with two clauses that is put is sent to the government. As many as 34 proposals is sent to the government under Rastriya Madhyamika Shiksha Abhiyaan (RMSA). Of which 32 would be completed by December.<br /><br />Elaborating over the multi village drinking water scheme, he said as many as 18 proposals are sent to the government and the project in Hebri would be functioning shortly. As many as Rs 26 lakh is released for 100 Anganavadis.<br /><br />He said there was pendency of files and nearly 10,000 files were pending for clearance. The surveyors are appointed and files are disposed off through online.<br /><br />Nearly 1,500 files are received every month. He said as many as 1,253 pump set connectivities would be given through Mescow. He said Rs 6.21 compensation is distributed for 29 atrocity cases that were reported. Rs 53 crore is allotted for UGD programme in Kundapur, Rs 27 crore is released to take up water supply programme in Saligrama and Rs 51 crore is released for water supply programme in Kaup, he added.<br /><br />Sorake said majority sugar factory owners are in BJP and Yeddyurappa should convince his men to release funds for the sugarcane growers in the form of subsidy, he said referring to the remarks made by the former CM.</p>
