Here students grows vegetables for mid-day meals

However, the credit of the success of this project goes to Ka Da Krishnaraju, Senior Veterinary Examiner, Department of Animal Husbandry.

Daraahalli Higher Primary School was given Rs 3500 for creating ‘Tharakari Vana’ (vegetable garden) under Bisi Uta project. Utilising the fund, with the help of parents and others the little land in the backyard of the school has ben transformed into kitchen garden from where the daily requirement of vegetables for cooking food for children is being met.

The vegetables are grown using ‘Jeevamrutha’ and no chemicle fertilisers have been used so far.

The garden has various kinds of nutritious green leafy vegetables, radish, brinjal, carrot, beet root, tomatoes and other vegetables.

The school has shown the district how a government programme can be successful when entire community joins hands together.
