<p>Delivering the presidential address, College of Fisheries Director Dr Y Basavaraju said that College of Fisheries is handling projects worth Rs 15 crore at present. <br /><br />Development of e-courses for Bachelors of Fisheries Sciences started in 2008 is the most significant one of the lot, which is expected to be offered to public domain by end of 2011. Various programmes with regard to value chain programme, value added products and developing of indigenous ornamental fishes are also being conducted, the results of which will be of great help to farmers.<br /><br />KUDECMP Deputy project Director J R Lobo said that young pass outs of the college should not just develop themselves as professionals but should shape themselves are sensitive crusaders for conservation of environment and ecology. <br /><br />“There are many species which we used to see in rivers and lakes when we were children. Decades have passed and today those species are not to be seen. As fisheries experts you all should take the responsibility of conserving the existing species so that the next generation too see it,” he called upon the young graduates.<br /><br />Department of Fisheries Director Veerappa Gowda inaugurated the programme. ZP CEO P Shivashankar released the souvenir ‘Matsya sambrama’. Students who exceled in academics and sports were given prizes.</p>
