Annual fest at St Aloysius

St Aloysius College will organise its annual festival from January 28 to 30 on the college campus.

Central Bank of India’s Field General Manager K Eshwar and the bank’s Senior Regional Manager V Venkatesh will be the chief guests on the occasion, the festival Convener Lawrence J M Pinto said.

The annual festival consists of seven consecutive festivals of various streams of the college --- Art Beat (Arts), Imprints (Science), ACME (BCom), Spinout (BBM), Composite (IT Fest), Astitva (Cultural Fest) and Aloysiad (Sports Fest).

Art Beat, a national-level arts fest organised by the Faculty of Arts with the theme ‘Avisa’- ocean of talents, will be held on January 28 and 29. An exhibition displaying artifacts and antiques related to the theme of the ocean will be held.

There will be 16 competitions, including Mock Parliament, cooking relay, photography, creative writing, budgeting and quiz. ‘Imprints’, a science fest organised by the science faculty with the theme From Cellular to Stellar’, is inspired by the works of former president late APJ Abdul Kalam. The festival comprises 11 events like ‘Viral Tech’, ‘Zoo Frenzy’,’Chakravyuvh’ and ‘Chaos’, designed for three-fold development in intellectual, physical and social world. This festival will be held on January 28 and 29.

ACME 2016, a business fest organised by the Department of Commerce, will be held on the January 28 and 29. The theme chosen for this event is ‘Optimism’. Events like ‘Business Quiz’, ‘Candor’, ‘Chamber of Commerce’, ‘Continental Drift’, ‘Diplomacy’, ‘Revolution’ and ‘The Network’ will be organised for students.

The Management fest ‘Spin-Out 2k16’ is open for BBM/BBA and BCom streams. The theme for the fest is ‘AXIOM-The Dawn of Reasoning’. The fest comprises seven events like the ‘Best Manager’, ‘Brand Ambassador’, ‘Corporate Quiz’ and ‘Marketing’.

The IT fest, Composite 2k16, will be conducted by the Department of Computer Applications on January 28 and 29. The theme is ‘Network of Brains’. Nine events ---  ‘Last Man Standing’, ‘The Best IT Manager, ‘Advert’, mad-ads event, ‘CODEIT’, coding and debugging event, ‘Scavenging Path’, treasure hunt event, ‘Graphicon’, the web designing event, ‘Techipedia’, IT quiz, ‘Imagino’, video editing, Info Extractor, the paper presentation event and Armageddon, the gaming event, --- will be held.

Astitva 2016 is a cultural fest for the students of all streams. It will be held on January 29 and 30. The theme for the fest is ‘A Cultural Odyssey’, imbibing the essence of ‘Satrangi’- the seven colours. The festival comprises seven events like folk dance, variety, just-a-minute and mad-ad. In ‘Aloysiad 2016,’ a sports fest, hand ball (men), throw ball (women), volley ball (men/women), soft ball (men), chess, table tennis (men and women) will be held.

‘Battle of Bands’, a national-level musical competition, will be held on January 30 under the theme ‘Antra’.
