<p>The Madiwala police on Saturday arrested Chancellor of Alliance University Madhukar G Angur on charges of raping his relative for three years. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Dr Angur (60) was arrested following a complaint by the victim’s mother. The 32-year-old victim is Dr Angur’s niece. The victim’s mother said in the complaint that Dr Angur raped her daughter between 2011 and 2014 and she went into depression because of his acts.<br /><br /> She quit her job in 2015 due to his act. She was hospitalised in January this year and narrated Dr Angur’s acts after she recovered. Till then, none in the family knew about the rape, she stated in the complaint.<br /><br />“We have booked Dr Angur under the Indian Penal Code Section 376 (rape) and arrested him, ” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Dr MB Boralingaiah said.<br /><br />Dr Angur was picked up from his house in JP Nagar 3rd Phase early Saturday morning and was arrested later. Dr Angur and the victim were subjected to medical examination at Victoria Hospital and the medical reports are likely to be out in a couple of days, police said.<br /><br />Police sources said preliminary investigation had indicated that a property dispute among family members could have resulted in the complaint. Dr Angur’s family claimed that a false complaint was filed against him to acquire his properties in Bengaluru.<br /><br /> “Dr Angur started the Alliance University at Chikkahagade Cross, Chandapura on Anekal road to fulfil his parents’ wish. He had assigned the task of looking after the university and his properties in Bengaluru to his brothers and sisters. In fact, he had given a job to his elder sister’s daughter (the victim) in the University. His brothers and sisters have lodged a false complaint only to acquire his properties,” one of Angur’s family members claimed.<br /><br />There are two complaints and cases involving Dr Angur and his family members with the Anekal police. <br /><br />Both the cases were charge-sheeted and the trial is on.
