A 37-year-old IAS officer was found dead at his residence on Saturday morning in south Delhi’s R K Puram.

The police said the deceased, identified as Shyam Vinod Meena, was down with diarreoha for the last few days.

Meena was posted as the personal secretary of Union Minister of State for Water Resources Sanwar Lal Jat and is the son-in-law of former central minister Ram Kishore Meena. “The body was found outside the bathroom with his faeces strewn around. Prima facie, it looks the death was due to dehydration. However, we are waiting for the postmortem report. Only after we receive it, the reason of death will be clearer,’’ said a senior police officer.

Hailing from Alwar in Rajasthan, Meena, along with his wife and four-year-old daughter had shifted to his house a year back. Both his wife and daughter were not in Delhi when the incident happened.

Meena’s driver first noticed the body on Saturday morning when he came to his house to take him to office. Police sources said that Meena had been dead for around 20-24 hours when his body was found.

“The deceased’s driver first noticed Meena lying on the floor outside the toilet. He called the police and Meena was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre where he was described brought dead,’’ the police officer added. Meena was a 2008 batch IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre. Meena’s family members were informed about his death. After they arrived in Delhi, the body was sent for postmortem.
