Consultation on deemed varsities

“The Society has held discussions with 76 varsities across the country. We are playing the role of a bridge between the universities and the government and plan to present the position of the universities to the government. An appointment has been sought with the Prime Minister, HRD Minister and UPA chairperson in this connection and we hope to get it within a fortnight,” Dr G Viswanathan, president of EPSI, said here on Friday.

Interactive sessions have been held in New Delhi on January 22, Chennai on February 5 and Pune on February 19 earlier. One more round of talks will be held with all universities in the country in New Delhi on February 24, he added.

EPSI’s Secretary General, Manohar Chellani said the following institutions, including eight from Karnataka, participated in the talks on Friday:  KLE University, Belgaum; Christ University, Bangalore; JSS University, Mysore; LDE University, Belgaum, Sri Siddhanta Academy of Higher Education, Tumkur;  Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana, Bangalore; V C Jain University, Karnataka and Sri Devaraj Urs University, Kolar; Karpagam University, Coimbatore; SOA University, Orissa; Vinayaka Mission University, Salem; VIT, Vellore and Graphic Era University, Dehradun.
