<p>The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will soon file an appeal against the discharge of Raghaveshwara, pontiff of Ramachandrapura mutt, in a rape case.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Sources in the CID said the appeal would be filed before the High Court within a couple of weeks.<br /><br />According to the sources, the main contention of the CID would be that the trial court had discharged the accused without trial. “The seer has been acquitted at the pre-trial stage. The public prosecutor has stated that the grounds on which the seer has been acquitted are not maintainable and it is a fit case for filing an appeal,” an officer said.<br /><br />The CID began the process of documentation before filing the appeal, the sources said. <br /></p>
