"When the government releases the Economic Survey and presents the Union Budget on February 25 and 26 respectively, BJP will hold massive protest demonstrations in Lucknow, capital of the most populous state of Uttar Pradesh.

"The party is launching a scathing and aggressive campaign against the UPA government's failure to control price rise and its massive scam," BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

He described the increase in prices of essential commodities as "the biggest scam in Indian democracy".

Senior party leaders Rajnath Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi, Vinay Katiyar, Kalraj Mishra, besides Naqvi will participate in the campaign.
"Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, never talk about price rise and the steps being taken to control it, when they visit Uttar Pradesh," Naqvi said.

BJP has already launched a nation-wide campaign against price rise. The party leaders, along with lakhs of workers, will gherao the Parliament on April 21.

The main opposition has been critical of the government for "failing" to control prices of sugar, dal and other essential commodities and complained about rising food inflation.
The issue is likely to figure prominently in the forthcoming Budget session of Parliament as well.

BJP has already demanded a Joint Parliamentary Party probe into the alleged scam behind price rise. It alleged that Union ministers have made money through futures trading.
