Reacting strongly to the reported statement by Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily that the State government will collapse if the Sonia Gandhi makes up her mind, he said “It (State government) is not a coffee estate for the Congress party or Sonia Gandhi to open or close it whenever they want.”

Insult to democracy

It is people of the State who voted the BJP to power. Moily’s statement is an insult to the democracy.  “A law minister should not speak so carelessly and against the democracy. Instead of indulging in petty politics, he (Moily) should work towards the interest of the State,” he stated.

Protest

The JD(S) will stage a protest at all district headquarters, except Bangalore, opposing the alleged acquisition of farm land by the State government. The party leaders at the district level will submit a memorandum in this regard to the Deputy Commissioners. On February 24, the party is organising a State-level convention on the outskirts of Bangalore.
