I get charged up when I listen to the songs from the 1980s. Listening to these tracks in the mornings literally sets the tone for the day. I somehow can’t listen to loud music and I can’t relate to some of today's songs. I’ve also noticed that some of the youngsters of today relate to some of the popular country tunes.

Author
Jeffery Archer
I’ve always enjoyed reading Jeffery Archer. I used to read when I was growing up and I continue to do so whenever I get time. I also pick up books on positive thinking and those that banish negative thinking and infuse a positive streak in me. Books have always been my best companions.

Travel
Andaman and Nicobar Islands
I always wonder why people look out for exotic places abroad when you have some amazing getaways in India. I recently visited the Andamans and spent a
considerable amount of time there on the beach. I am also working towards a trek to the Himalayas, sometime soon.

Inspiration
Achievers
In the world of sports, anybody who achieved great strides inspires me. It takes great mental and physical strength to stand out in the world of sports. I also draw inspiration from people who give back to society what they have received. I believe that no matter how powerful one becomes, one must be humble. The more you give, the more you receive.

Cinema
Priyanka Chopra
I find actors like Shabana Azmi, Priyanka Chopra talented and versatile. I like Aamir Khan because he can slip into just about any role. I can’t relate to movies that glorify violence or those that have too much extravagance and pomp. I prefer watching movies thatreflects reality and captures the hardships of the ordinary people.

Philosophy
Be true to yourself
I always believe that one should be true to oneself no matter what the situation. When society gives us the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally, I think it is only fair that one gives back to society just as much as we receive from it.

Cuisine
Fish curry and tapioca
When I am travelling within the country, I would always like to experiment with food related to that particular state. For instance, when I am in Kerala I would never eat ‘sambhar’ but try authentic Kerala dishes such as fish curry and tapioca, fish fry or prawn fry. If I am in Delhi, I try the ‘Chole bhature’ in restaurants located in old Delhi. I am not fussy about food. When I am overseas I experiment with all kinds of food. I would eat the right kind of food before a competition. I would stick to chicken and bread.

(As told to Nina C George)
