Mudalagiriyappa, a Karnataka State Industrial Investment & Development Corporation Limited (KSIIDC) official is the latest victim of this white-collar crime.
In a complaint lodged with the High Grounds Police, he said that on February 6, he found his e-mail ID hacked and to his embarrassment, hackers sought financial help from the people who were on his contact list. Upset over this, he got in touch with the e-mail service provider requesting them to either block or terminate it. His efforts, however, didn't materialise, he added. A case under section 66 D of the Information Technology Act, 2008 has been registered.
