Vastu complaint forces house owner to take up renovation

The mishap occurred at  K R Road, 7th Block, Jayanagar near Sevakshetra hospital. The Banashankari police said the property belongs to K B Madde Gowda, a retired reader from Bangalore University and though it is a fairly new structure, the owner took up renovation work for making some vastu-compliant corrections. Only the front portion of the first floor was taken for renovation while the ground floor is untouched.

Thimmappa (27) of Raichur was killed while Ramanna (28) also of Raichur is being treated for multiple fractures at a city hospital. Three other workers managed to escape unhurt.
According to eyewitnesses, at 6 pm, power supply tripped. Ramanna was chipping a beam while Thimappa was busy working under a window. A portion of the beam collapsed and fell on Thimappa, killing him on the spot.

Fire force personnel were rushed to the spot and the body was recovered. The locality police are questioning the owner. A case of negligence was booked.

Auto turns turtle: One dead

A man, said to be drunk and travelling in his friend's auto rickshaw, died on the spot when the three-wheeler turned turtle after the driver reportedly lost control over it and rammed into a road divider near BHEL Circle here on Sunday night, the police said.
Ravindranath (36), an auto driver from Jakkur Layout near Yelahanka, was travelling in his friend Vinod's auto rickshaw when the mishap occurred around 8.30 pm. Both the friends were alleged to be in an inebriated state.

The police, however, say that only the post-mortem report will confirm whether the deceased was drunk.

Vinod ran away immediately after the incident, but was arrested by the police later.
The body was handed over to the relatives after a post-mortem was conducted. Yeshwanthpur traffic police have registered a case of causing death due to negligence under section 304A of the IPC against Vinod.

‘Vivekanand is rowdy sheeter’

Upparpet police have included in their list of rowdy sheeters the name of Vivekanand who operates an outfit known as ‘Karnataka Human Rights Council’.

Six cases have been registered with the Upparpet police against Vivekanand, with two more being registered - one with KS Layout police and other with the Yelahanka police station.

These cases pertain to cheating, dacoity and intimidation. Hence, his name was included in rowdy-sheeters’ list. Vivekanand will now have to visit the police every week to sign a register, said the Upparpet police.

Houses burgled

Thieves struck at two houses recently in separate incidents and made away with cash and valuables.

Ramesh, a resident of 10th main road, Venkatappa Nilay, Hoskerehalli, had been to his native place - Devalapura on Saturday.

The thieves gained entry to his house by breaking open the front door and have decamped with Rs 40,000 and jewellry, all valued at Rs 4 lakh. The theft came to light when Ramesh returned the next day.

In another incident,the thieves struck at the house of G Ajith Kumar at ISRO layout, when he was away on wedding preparations.

On his return he found that the front door lock was broken and jewellry worth Rs 4 lakh was missing.
