68-year-old Rathore has alleged that the attack on him outside the court premises was part of a conspiracy to kill him.

Rathore, who had not earlier pressed any charges against 29-year-old Utsav, who hails from Varanasi and was studying at Ahmedabad, now in a complaint lodged with Chandigarh's IGP wants Section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder) incorporated in the case already registered against the youth at Sector 17 police station here.

The former DGP who received injuries on his face in the assault while coming out after a hearing on February 8 has in his complaint termed the incident a conspiracy against him and accused the media of perpetrating a hate campaign against him, misguiding the youth, which ultimately resulted in the assault on him.

In his complaint, Rathore has alleged that the Chandigarh Police (whose constable had earlier lodged a complaint in the assault incident) had not approached him till February 16 to record his and his advocate N D Sharma's statements under Section 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code regarding the incident, even as they had requested the police to record the same after the incident.
