<p>The state government has advanced the deadline for making Karnataka free from open defecation, <br />by 10 months.<br /><br />Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H K Patil told reporters here on Saturday that it had been decided to achieve the mission by December 2017 instead of the earlier deadline of October 2018 as the term of the present government would end in May next year.<br /><br />“At present, 71% target has been achieved in construction of toilets in individual households. The revised goal has been drafted after holding meeting with Zilla Panchayat chief executive officers,” he said.<br /></p>
